An excellent location just a short walk to the Main Street. Friendly and attentive staff. Dog friendly - my dog enjoyed the live music in the bar with some doggy treats and a bowl of water brought over by the barman. Spacious room with great facilities - we booked a superior room with a view and it didn’t disappoint. A comfortable bed, coffee making facilities, shower gel and of course a lovely view with big traditional sash windows - just gorgeous. Dinner both nights were excellent, the first night we dined in the restaurant and ordered from the main menu and I couldn’t fault a thing. Delicious, well presented and lovely staff again. the second night we enjoyed burgers in the bar from the local butcher, these were toasted on a brioche bun served with chips and coleslaw and again - absolutely delicious. Bar prices were fantastic in comparison to other places we’ve travelled to in Scotland for mini breaks. Barman was friendly and attentive. Decor in the bar was lovely with books to read or games to play whilst you relax - we chose the dominos. Swimming pool and facilities were lovely. Overall we had no complaints for our stay. Having read previous reviews - I was worried. But when you’re paying 275,or in the region, for 2 people for 2 nights - what are people expecting? Is it the fanciest hotel we’ve stayed in - no. However for the price we paid we have absolutely no complaints with the hotel and everything we got. We’ve stayed in places where one night is more than 2 here so we knew it wouldn’t be as up market and we were more than ok with that. But judging by previous reviews from others - they were expecting a Rolex for a Casio price. We got a lovely big room, kept warm all night, lovely hot showers in the morning, breakfast too, for less than £70 each a night, after a worldwide pandemic and during a cost of living crisis…pretty good to me!! We definitely will be returning with our dog.

Had lovely time. After reading negative reviews for this hotel we almost cancelled however so glad we did not. We had a really good stay. Our room (room 2) which was a superior with view was really big. Lovely, comfy bed. Plenty power points and USB points next to bed. Coffee maker and kettle and good selection of tea and coffee. Very clean, yes the windows are old, and the carpets a bit dated (but clean) but the hotel dates back to 1890! You are not going to get super modern non squeaky floors. It has character and charm. Our bathroom was also a good size and very clean. Enjoyed our drinks at the bar and all staff very nice. All the public areas were nice and bright. Garden was cute. We walked down to the town taking the steps to the gate. You need to take your time but quick way to the town. Wee climb on the way back but doable. Will definitely return.

Staff were very welcoming and helpful from check-in to check-out, the room (Superior Double with Scenic View) turned out to be more than we were expecting, a lovely surprise, as it had a living room type area before going into a separate bedroom. Location is a 5-minute walk from the town centre (up a gradual hill for about 1/3 of a mile) but close enough to most of the town shops and attractions without being too close to be affected by night-time noise. Breakfast choices were good, nothing overly special or fancy, but more than enough to set you up for the day. Had planned to use the leisure facilities (open to public as well as guests) but didn't end up having time. Seating areas both inside/outside spacious and accessible. Overall, would definitely consider returning if booking another weekend away to Pitlochry.

The glory days of Victorian and the Empire are behind us, so we have to accept that these sort of hotels are past their best and struggle to compete with modern hotels. However, for the price, this hotel is excellent. Don't expect perfection, and the Savoy it's not, but the staff were top notch. We felt welcome and right at home. We were travelling on classic motorcycles, and had a bracket broken on the panniers. The maintenance guy could not have been more helpful. We asked if he had and flat bar and if we could borrow some tools... But no. He came and had a look, measured up and went away to make a new bracket. He wouldn't accept a tip so we gave it to reception to pass on. If you're a bit fussy and picky then this may not be the place for you, but if you're laid back and chilled, you'll love it.

Breakfast was excellent, from porridge, full English, and pastries plus lots of tea/coffee. Staff were very nice and smiley. Dinner was part of our deal, and was really nice. Different each of the two nights. As it was our anniversary, we had afternoon tea, which we both agreed was one of the best. The sandwiches were so fresh, but the cakes were to die for and plenty of them. We upgraded to a superior room with a view, which was very well appointed and clean. Drinks were a reasonably priced. We had absolutely no complaints and would recommend the hotel.
